Daniel McKorley, CEO of the McDan Group of Companies, has urged Ghanaian youth to focus on establishing businesses in Ghana rather than seeking greener pastures abroad.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, McDan emphasized that Ghana holds immense opportunities for financial success, advising young people to capitalize on them.
“There’s a lot of money in Ghana; you can make it here, so forget about going abroad,” he stated firmly.
He challenged the belief that traveling abroad guarantees financial success, questioning, “If you think I’m not right, just show me one person who went abroad, came back to Ghana, and became a successful businessman.”
McKorley acknowledged that while there is value in gaining international experience, the ultimate goal should be to return and invest in Ghana.
“The best they can do is to go and learn abroad and bring back that knowledge to create businesses in Ghana,” he advised.
His comments reflect a growing narrative that encourages youth to contribute to Ghana’s economic growth by leveraging local opportunities. Many young people dream of leaving the country in search of better opportunities, often underestimating the potential within their homeland. However, McDan believes that with the right mindset, dedication, and strategic planning, Ghanaian youth can achieve success without relocating abroad.
