A fire has engulfed the Techiman market in the Bono East Region.
The blaze, which started around 9:30 pm, has been raging for nearly three hours at the time of this report.
Agya Tawiah, an eyewitness and reporter with Gaskiyah FM in Techiman, shared that fire service teams from Wenchi, Sunyani, and Nkoranza have been dispatched to the scene to contain the flames and bring the situation under control.
The fire is reportedly concentrated at stalls selling spiritual perfumes, incense, oils, and other similar items. Traders in the affected areas have expressed devastation, with some reporting significant losses in the inferno.
Additionally, three individuals were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman for medical treatment.
Over 50 stalls have been destroyed in the fire, and the police are on high alert, preventing some people from looting the remaining goods at the market.
Nonetheless, authorities continue to monitor the situation as efforts to extinguish the fire progress.
