A 22-year-old Senior High School Graduate, an excavator operator has died at a mining site at Mpatuam in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening around 5 PM, March 18, 2022, after the operator, Maame Duffie and her excavator plunged into an unseen mining pit.
According to an eyewitness account, Maame Duffie was returning home after work but unfortunately, her excavator plunged into the unknown mining pit.
The eyewitness, Yaw Sarpong, Uncle of the deceased explained to the media that, all efforts to rescue his niece proved futile because the mud water in the pit had swallowed up her and the excavator.
He narrated that, it took rescuers more than 10 hours before discovering Maame Duffie, meanwhile, she had died already.
The remains of the SHS graduate have since been deposited at Toase Morgue by police for a thorough investigation.
