Ghanaian musician Joshua Kojo Ampah, popularly known as Keche Joshua, has come to the defence of dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla, known professionally as Stonebwoy, following criticism over his reaction to the cancellation of Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr.’s (Shatta Wale) ShattaFest concert in the United Kingdom.

Speaking in an interview, Keche Joshua said Stonebwoy’s message was taken out of context by some fans, explaining that the award-winning artiste was simply showing concern over an unfortunate situation that affected another musician.

“Stonebwoy came to write that no artiste or show promoter expects this. Then all of a sudden, fans came from nowhere and started insulting him, but there was nothing wrong with what Stonebwoy did,” he said.

Keche Joshua revealed that when reports about the cancellation surfaced, he initially hoped they were untrue because of his relationship with Shatta Wale. He said he contacted people in the UK to confirm the situation before accepting the news.

“When I heard the news, I said, ‘I hope it’s not true,’ because Shatta is my gee. So I made some calls to the UK to find out if it was true. Even my younger sister attended the event. Then people started sending me videos, and I knew it was true,” he stated.

The musician noted that the concert involved major financial commitments and described the development as disappointing for everyone connected to the event.

“A lot of money had been invested in it. There was a private jet and other things. Even parking a private jet at the airport is not easy. That is why I’m telling you that sometimes if you look at what other people are saying, you won’t do the right thing,” he added.

Keche Joshua’s comments come amid renewed discussions between supporters of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, with the two fan bases often involved in debates over the rivalry between the two leading Ghanaian dancehall artistes. He urged people to focus on facts rather than allow fan disagreements to overshadow genuine concerns within the music industry.
