Family of Late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Announces New Burial Date

The final burial of the spiritual leader of Christo Asafo, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, has been rescheduled from July 20 to Thursday, July 30, 2026, by his children and family elders.

The burial service will take place at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region. Funeral rites will follow on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Independence Square in Accra. A thanksgiving service will then be held in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

At a press conference, Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo, daughter of the late Apostle, announced that the new date was accepted by both the children and the Aduana Kotoko Royal Family, home and abroad, to allow for a befitting burial for their beloved father, uncle, and spiritual leader.

According to her, her father made it clear while alive that he did not want a state burial, and the family will honor that wish.

“As a statesman, it is only right to allow all members of the Aduana Kotoko Royal Family across the globe, especially those from Chad and Cameroon, to be fully represented. That is why we have chosen July 30, 2026, to pay our last respects to the ‘African Star’,” Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo stated.

She added that the new date was chosen after consultations with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.

The family is calling on all well-wishers and members of Christo Asafo to take note of the change in date as they prepare to give Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka a befitting farewell.
