Daniel McKorley, CEO of the McDan Group of Companies, has expressed concerns about the excessive influence of religious institutions on productivity in Ghana.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, McDan stated that religious activities are interfering with national progress and work ethics.
He pointed out that during working hours, valuable time is spent on religious activities, affecting efficiency in businesses and workplaces.
“Imagine from Monday, 10 AM to 1 PM, we use that time (working time) for prayers. Why must we do that when there’s work for us to do?” he questioned.
Despite his concerns, McDan emphasized that he values the role of faith in his life and decision-making.
“The God factor is very important to me. I don’t do things without God, but I don’t devote all my time to prayers,” he clarified.
He further criticized the mentality of relying solely on prayer instead of taking proactive steps to solve problems.
“Again, the issue of ‘let’s leave it to God, let’s pray’ is a big problem,” he noted, stressing the need for action alongside faith.
