An ex-soldier, believed to be in his early 50s, has been found dead in his home at Fiifi Down, a suburb of Nyanyano Kakraba in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The discovery was made on Saturday, August 9, 2025, after residents noticed a foul smell coming from the house and alerted police.
According to police, officers forced entry into the home and found the man—popularly known in the community as W.O.—lying naked in a prone position in his living room. He reportedly lived alone.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, Environmental Health officials from the Gomoa East District Assembly fumigated the premises before the body was removed.
The remains were transported to the Police Hospital mortuary in Accra by the Central East Regional Police Command, with support from the military.
Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing.
