Ewurabena Aubynn, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, has been officially sworn into office by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, following her victory in a hotly contested parliamentary rerun.
Her induction into the Eighth Parliament comes after a rerun election was held in 19 polling stations, following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) annulment of the original December 2024 parliamentary results.
The annulment stemmed from reported electoral irregularities, including unauthenticated pink sheets, discrepancies in vote tallies, and procedural breaches during the collation process.
In the rerun held earlier this month, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate emerged victorious with 34,090 votes, narrowly defeating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) contender, Akua Afriyie, who polled 33,881 votes.
Aubynn’s swearing-in marks the conclusion of a prolonged electoral dispute and ushers in a new chapter of representation for the people of Ablekuma North.
