Legendary Ghanaian broadcaster Linsford Kwabena Asare, popularly known as Otwinoko, has entered the heated discussions surrounding the death, legacy and properties of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba.

Otwinoko, who is related to the late musician, shared a video on social media in which he performed libation at the gravesite of Daddy Lumba’s grandmother, the mother of the late Ama Saah. He appealed to the ancestors to restore peace while cautioning individuals he believes are damaging the image of the highlife icon and creating tension around his family.

According to Otwinoko, repeated accusations and public debates following Daddy Lumba’s death must stop, insisting that the late musician deserves peace.

He said, “To the rivers which have surrounded us, it’s your son Kwabena Asare speaking. I’m in your presence today because I’m troubled about something. My brother Kwadwo Fosu, Ghanaians have been criticizing him. Whenever someone dies, they blame him. Kwadwo doesn’t speak. I’m here with my brother to pour libation and curse those who won’t let him rest. They will face the consequences. I wanted unity, but unity did not work and Kojo is gone.”

The broadcaster explained that he deliberately chose to visit the grave of Daddy Lumba’s grandmother instead of the musician’s own burial site because of his belief in ancestral powers.

“I couldn’t go to Kwadwo’s grave during the one-year remembrance for a reason. This is Lumba’s grandmother’s grave. I believe in ghosts and spirits, and I know the kind of spirit that is in the other world, so they should all come and support me,” he stated.

Addressing the ongoing controversy over Daddy Lumba’s estate, Otwinoko maintained that assets acquired by a man should primarily benefit his wife and children, calling on anyone holding onto properties belonging to the late singer to resolve the matter.

“The way people are disgracing Lumba and the family should stop. Nananom, you’ve been quiet for long, so let the water speak. I wanted peace to reign, but I can see that is not working. When a man makes properties, he acquires them for his wife and children. We should all understand this and know peace,” he said.

He further appealed to anyone with claims over Daddy Lumba’s properties or financial dealings to come forward instead of allowing the disputes to continue.

“Anyone that is keeping anything that belongs to him, and by virtue of that has remained silent on the ongoing controversies, pester them till they return Kojo’s properties to his wife and children. And if he worked with someone and cheated the person over money issues, let the person gather courage and inform the family so that everyone will be at peace,” he added.

Otwinoko also called for justice if there were foul play surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death, while condemning people he accused of spreading false information about the late musician for personal attention.

“If Kwadwo’s death is not natural and someone is behind it, don’t let the person be free. Speak up and let the truth prevail. Anyone who spread lies about him just to be relevant or noticed shall never know peace. May this libation I’m pouring be a blessing to you wherever you are, and his name will remain on earth,” he prayed.

Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most celebrated highlife musicians, passed away after a remarkable career spanning decades and left behind a rich musical legacy. Since his death, discussions about his family, estate and personal affairs have continued to generate public interest. Otwinoko’s intervention adds another layer to the ongoing debate as calls grow for peace and respect for the late music legend’s memory.
