President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized that any attempts to disrupt Ghana’s democracy leading up to the December 7 general elections will be met with strong resistance.
The president has made it clear that maintaining the integrity of the electoral process is of utmost importance.
During his final address at the National Best Farmer Awards, the outgoing president reassured the people of Ghana that he is dedicated to ensuring peace and security during the upcoming elections.
He highlighted the hard work that has been put into establishing a stable democracy and emphasized the need to protect it.
President Akufo-Addo commended past leaders, civil society, and the citizens of Ghana for their efforts in promoting peace.
He called on both citizens and politicians to prioritize unity and uphold Ghana’s democratic values, which have become a shining example not only in Africa but also globally.
“As we approach the 2024 general elections, let me make one thing clear again. I am unwavering in my commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections. Ghana’s democracy is a treasure we have all fought to build and a legacy that must be protected.
“The sovereign will of the Ghanaian people will be upheld, and any attempts to disrupt the peace or undermine the democratic process will be met with the full weight of the law. Let there be no doubt that our democracy will remain strong and the people’s choice will prevail.”
