The Chief of Ejura Divisional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has secured a landmark victory for his subjects by reclaiming the erstwhile Ejura Farms.
The Ejura Divisional Council was on the brink of losing the vast land and properties due to expired leases and encroachment.
However, through Barimah Osei Hwedie II’s intervention, President Akuffo Addo directed the handover of the farms and properties to the Ejura traditional council.
The Ejura Farms, formerly known as American Farms, was taken over by the Ghana government in 1958.
The lease on the land expired in 2018, allowing encroachers to take over.
Some individuals even attempted to sell portions of the farm, prompting Barimah Osei Hwedie II to take action.
After persistent follow-ups by the Ejurahene, President Akuffo Addo instructed the State Interest and Governance Authority to hand over the farms to the Ejura Divisional Council officially.
This achievement has earned Barimah Osei Hwedie II widespread admiration for his commitment to Ejura’s development.
