Ejisu MP begins distributing skip bins to improve sanitation in his constituency
The Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Boateng, has begun distributing skip bins to communities across the constituency as part of efforts to improve sanitation and promote a cleaner environment.
The initiative forms part of the lawmaker’s commitment to addressing waste management challenges in the constituency while encouraging residents to adopt proper sanitation practices.
Speaking to the media during the distribution exercise, Mr Boateng said many communities have struggled with inadequate waste disposal facilities, forcing some residents to dump refuse in inappropriate places, including cemeteries.
“Many of the communities have been facing challenges with waste disposal. Some residents even dumped refuse at the cemetery. Cleanliness is next to godliness. We have cleared several large refuse dumpsites, so it is important to provide alternative places where residents can properly dispose of their waste,” he said.
The MP expressed optimism that every community in the Ejisu Constituency would receive at least one skip bin before the end of his first term in office.

“It is my hope that by the end of my first term, I will be able to provide at least one skip bin to every community in the constituency,” he stated.
Mr Boateng also announced plans to intensify public education on environmental sanitation to encourage residents to keep their surroundings clean and help reduce the risk of flooding and sanitation-related diseases.
“We will educate the communities on the importance of keeping their surroundings clean to help prevent flooding and other related health and environmental problems,” he added.
In addition to distributing the skip bins, the MP donated 30 streetlight bulbs each to selected communities to improve security and visibility at night.

He also presented jerseys and footballs to support youth sporting activities and encourage greater participation in community sports.
The initiative forms part of the MP’s broader efforts to improve sanitation, enhance community safety and promote youth development across the Ejisu Constituency.
