The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu, Kwabena Boateng, has appealed to the public, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to support the completion of an unfinished Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) at the Ejisu Government Hospital.
The 45-bed facility, initiated by former MP Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, has stalled due to funding challenges. Mr. Boateng has pledged to see the project through and announced that the unit will be named after his predecessor in recognition of his contribution to maternal and child healthcare in the constituency.
“The project has reached the roofing stage, and I am hopeful we can complete that phase by the end of 2025. Funding so far has come from the Common Fund and other sources, but we need more support,” Mr. Boateng told Oyerepa News.
He noted that the roofing stage is particularly costly and said he is reaching out to individuals and companies in the constituency to assist. “This is a legacy investment in the health and future of Ejisu,” he added.
The Medical Superintendent of the Ejisu Government Hospital, Mr. Asenso Brobbey, also underscored the urgency of the project.
He explained that once completed, the MBU would reduce congestion, improve maternal and child health services, and help save more lives.
“I came to meet the building, and we are praying it will be completed. The hospital is growing, and this project will bring great relief,” he said.
The MBU project, when finished, is expected to significantly strengthen maternal and child healthcare delivery in the Ejisu Municipality.
