Education Ministry seeks public help to track down Bole SHS Teacher in viral video
The Ministry of Education has called on the public to assist security agencies in locating a teacher at Bole Senior High School (SHS) who is reportedly on the run after a viral video surfaced showing him allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct with a student inside the school’s science laboratory.
Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, made the appeal during an interview on Citi FM in Accra, stating that the Ministry is treating the matter with utmost urgency and seriousness.
According to him, preliminary information suggests that the teacher has gone into hiding as law enforcement agencies intensify efforts to apprehend him.
“Our checks indicate that the teacher has gone into hiding. We know that law enforcement is also playing its part, and he is being sought after. If Ghanaians can assist law enforcement to apprehend him, it would be very helpful,” Dr. Apaak said.
He added that the teacher has already been interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and will face both criminal prosecution and internal disciplinary procedures once apprehended.
Meanwhile, the National Council of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA) has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a serious breach of professional ethics and a violation of the trust placed in educators.
The Council further characterised the act as a form of gender-based violence, stressing that it could amount to a criminal offence under Ghanaian law.
It also reiterated that schools must remain safe spaces for learning and development, free from exploitation, abuse, and misconduct.
