EC declares John Mahama as winner of the 2024 election

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Adukwei Mensa, has officially declared John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the President-elect of the 2024 election.

The announcement marks a return to power for Mahama, who previously served as president from 2012 to 2017.

Mahama secured a decisive victory with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total vote. His main contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61%.

This victory has been celebrated by NDC supporters across the country, who took to the streets to express their joy and support for Mahama.

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially declared John Dramani Mahama, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.

The announcement marks a return to power for Mahama, who previously served as president from 2012 to 2017.

The declaration was made by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa, on Monday, December 9, 2024, following the successful collation of the election results.

Mahama secured a decisive victory with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total vote. His main contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 4,657,304 votes, accounting for 41.61%.

This victory has been celebrated by NDC supporters across the country, who took to the streets to express their joy and support for Mahama.
