Our news desk reports that the unavailability of an ambulance to transport patients in critical conditions at the Akyem Kwabeng health centre in the Eastern Region is having a negative impact on quality healthcare delivery at the facility.
Our correspondent, Nana Kwame Andoh made this known upon a report of a mortality case that happened last Tuesday at the facility, resulting in a near attack on health workers at the facility by relatives of the deceased who did not understand why they must loose their loved one due to the absence of an ambulance.
The report further reveals that, frequent electricity power outages are also having a negative effect on the operations of the facility, thereby forcing management to depend on a small generator that is unable to support the activities of the health centre.
The facility lacks some essential equipment such as an electric power plant, BP apparatus, patient monitors, oxygen concentrators, cylinders and fetal dopplers.
Residents of Akyem Kwabeng and management of the health facility are thus appealing to the government to provide an ambulance and fix the electricity power challenges.
