The Queen Mother of Kwahu Awenade, a community in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region, Nana Ama Boatemaa, is urgently calling upon the government to intervene in the battle against illegal miners and their destructive activities in the area.
Despite numerous efforts made by the Queen Mother and the community to combat this menace, their endeavours have proven futile, leaving their farmlands and water bodies vulnerable to the ravages of illegal mining. It is therefore imperative that the government steps in promptly to help curb this dire situation.
Nana Asenso Boateng II, the Adehyiehene of Kwahu Awenade, also expressed the challenges they face in their fight against illegal mining. The lack of support and collaboration from their chief and other community leaders has made it even more difficult to combat this illegal activity.
For this reason, they urgently need the government’s support to combat illegal mining. Because their farmlands and water bodies are in desperate need of protection from the destructive activities of illegal miners.
