The Agona Denkyira Royal family of Kwahu Awenade recently conducted customary rites to remove Nana Ofori Danso, the chief of the community, from his position due to his behaviour that tarnished the community’s reputation.
During a meeting with the chief of Kwahu Obo, Osabarima Yeboah Afari Buagyan, Agona Denkyira Abusuapanin, Nana Kofi Owusu, expressed his concerns about Nana Ofori Danso’s unlawful sale of lands that belonged to the stool. Despite these sales, there were no visible development projects to show for the proceeds.
Nana Kofi Owusu also highlighted Nana Ofori Danso’s disrespectful actions towards the royal family, including the sale of lands designated for the Royal cemetery.
Additionally, the chief failed to prioritize the community’s development and engaged in an inappropriate relationship with the wife of the Gyaasehene, which is completely unacceptable behaviour for a chief.
Okofo Ampadu Kyeamre, the Krontihene of Kwahu Obo, confirmed his knowledge of Nana Ofori Danso’s misconduct and the subsequent traditional rites performed to remove him from his position. He took this opportunity to caution other chiefs about the importance of exhibiting good leadership conduct to avoid similar disgraceful situations.
