About 55 Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region have received life-sustaining items to help alleviate their poverty.
At a ceremony to donate items such as; refrigerators, sewing machines, food items, grinding machines, spraying machines among others, the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for Kwahu West, Lawyer Yaw Owusu Addo indicated that persons living with disabilities are often rejected by their families and regarded as unprofitable individuals. As a result, the NPP government resolves to empower them with their portion of the assembly’s common fund.
He however warned beneficiaries not to sell the items but use them for the intended purposes.
Mr Joseph Abankwa Dankwah, a fund management committee member and president of the Kwahu West PWD’S also pleaded with the government to increase their quota of the assembly common fund to cover all persons living with such a predicament.
