A driver sustained a gunshot wound to his arm during a highway robbery at Agona Asamoakrom along the Gomoa Akoti-Agona Kwanyarko road in the Central Region.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the Swedru Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, several other commuters who fell prey to the attack also suffered machete injuries, losing valuable items and cash to the robbers.
Speaking to Adom News, an eyewitness, Amos Quansah, described the incident as part of an alarming trend of robberies along the stretch, especially between Suromanya and Asamoakrom.
He further called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to enhance security in the area to protect lives and property.
