A 45-year-old driver, Albert Cobbina, suspected of murdering his wife, has been remanded into police custody by the Asante Akropong District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.
The court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Wiafe Adu, did not take his plea. Cobbina is expected to reappear on September 15, 2025.
Presenting the facts, Police Chief Inspector David Kwabi told the court that Cobbina lived with his late wife, Grace Asantewaa, at Fankyenebra near Santasi in the Kumasi Metropolis.
On August 24, 2025, Cobbina allegedly reported to the Suntreso Police that he had found his wife lying in a pool of blood, with a kitchen knife beside her.
He claimed to have rushed her to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
According to the prosecution, inconsistencies in Cobbina’s account of events raised suspicion. Following further interrogation, he was detained and later charged in connection with his wife’s death.
Cobbina has since been remanded as investigations continue.
