All People’s Congress flagbearer Dr. Hasan Ayariga has vowed to introduce flat rate electricity and water tariffs if elected Ghana’s president.
He made this pledge during a meeting with Ghana Union Traders Association (GUTA) executives, citing high costs crippling businesses.
High electricity and water costs are crippling businesses, Dr. Ayariga noted. To address this, he plans to abolish the metering systems of ECG and Ghana Water, which he believes deceive people. His vision includes proper institutional measures to ensure the electricity company generates revenue, not losses.
This move aims to support Ghanaian businessmen and women, stimulate economic growth, and alleviate struggles faced due to high utility costs.
Dr. Hassan Ayariga, emphasizes that Ghana’s presidents must utilize national resources to support citizens, not exacerbate hardship. He advocates for institutional measures to ensure Ghana’s electricity company generates revenue, not losses, as seen in previous years.
As a seasoned accountant and politician, Ayariga’s proposals align with his experience in finance and governance. His commitment to transforming Ghana’s electricity sector reflects his party’s focus on economic development and social welfare.
