Ghanaian musician, Kwaisey Pee, known in private life as Kwasi Poku Addae has spoken about the current state of Highlife music in the country.
According to the legendary singer, while the new crop of composers in Ghana are still doing Highlife, they have modernized it in a different manner.
“Highlife songs are still in the system just that the new crop of musicians have modernized it and they want to do it in a different way,” Kwaisey Pee told Amansan Krakye
The “Me hia Odo” hitmaker stated that it’s good for the new crop of musicians to modernize Highlife music but they shouldn’t forget about the indigenous elements in the genre.
“I mean I think it’s all good but we shouldn’t forget about our indigenous Highlife elements that make our songs unique from any other genre,” he said in an interview on Kastle FM MyNewsGh.com monitored.
“But if they are to infuse the modernized elements in it why not it’s better so I will urge them to keep it up,” he concluded on the Kastle Entertainment Show.
