The Member of Parliament, MP for Manso- Nkwanta constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Gorge Obeng Tekyi claims Ghanaians have failed to obey the laws set up to govern the nation hence the rampant flooding in the country.
“This country cannot move ahead when the citizens are not ready to go by the laws set to govern this nation. Ghanaians love to obey other country’s rules and regulations than their own. We seek ideas from these same people to amend the laws but they refuse to obey it.” The lawmaker stated on Oyerepa Breakfast Time chaired by Mr. Bismark Brown on Wednesday.
According to him, “the law urges us not to build in flood-prone areas, dump rubbish in the gutters, the practice of deforestation and many others but disobedience make Ghanaians engage in all these activities which intend result in flooding in our communities”. He added.
The Manso- Nkwanta legislator, however, encouraged the government to make sure the citizens strictly abide by the laws of the country since that can be the only solution to stop flooding in this country and also save lives.
