The Head of the Economics Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof Grace Nkansah Asante, has lauded the government of Ghana’s digitization initiative.
According to her, the initiative is saving a lot of costs for the citizenry.
The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, addressing the youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) at their National Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) Training and Orientation Conference on Thursday, April 7, 2022, noted that the government, through digitization, has saved Ghana a whopping GHC 112 million.
Commenting on the Vice President’s statement on Oyerepa Breakfast Time in an exclusive interview, Prof Grace Nkansah underscored that; digitization has also brought money into people’s pockets as well as saved their numerous costs.
“Digitization is saving us a lot of costs. It has brought money into people’s pockets.”
She explained that, in recent times, via digitization, people do not travel to places to apply for passports they sit in their comfort zones and embark on the required processes. People are able to shop online and their goods are being posted to them
The move, as a result, is reducing transport costs; it is saving a lot of time, it is reducing road accidents among others.
