The Public Relations Officer for the Education Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng, has stated that Ghana is also making a mark in terms of digitalization in Senior High School.
The government, as part of measures to inculcate digitalization into our education system, has launched free tablets for Senior High School (SHS) students today, Monday, March 25, 2024.
Speaking to Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the Public Relations Officer for the Education Ministry explained that this initiative is part of the Ghana Smart Schools Project, which aims to equip all students with the needed digitization system of learning across Ghana.
Additionally, this special project will provide teaching and learning management systems, digital learning content to all senior high and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools in Ghana.
The government is committed to providing these devices to about 1.4 million SHS across the country, including 503 public SHS and TVET institutions.
“The tablets have all teaching and learning materials on them, which will aid the students in their studies. So when it comes to Africa, Ghana is also making a mark in terms of digitalization in our various senior high schools,” he stated.
He noted that all the devices have been insured with an insurance company and configured with students’ credentials to help curtail the issues of theft and others.
“These devices have been duly insured with a company to help replace any stolen devices and also configured with credentials of students who are using them so it won’t be easy for someone to steal,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kwarteng emphasized that the distribution of these tablets would be done in phases, with each phase covering 30 schools until students in all schools get their tablets.
