Despite captivating audiences with her exceptional acting skills, Actress Portia Asare has not received the recognition she deserves from Ghanaians and award organizers.
The talented Kumawood actress expressed her disappointment with the lack of acknowledgement for her contributions to the Ghana Movie Industry during an interview on Oyerepa TV Cenifie Showbiz, hosted by Martha Joyce.
Portia Akua Asare Boateng revealed that despite her dedication and hard work, she has only received a minimal number of awards.
Her remarkable performances, thus; her prolific and profound acting skills have entertained audiences across Ghana, yet she remains overlooked. She has not been celebrated as she should be.
“I’ve been in the Ghana movie industry for 24 years but I’ve got only one or two awards to show. I received those awards between the years 2000 and 2002……. It seems Ghanaians and award organizers don’t appreciate my work, but I’m not worried because if humans have not recognised my work, I believe God has seen it.
Again, I didn’t venture into acting because of awards. I’m only exhibiting my God-given talent to the world. So that my lifestyle will be an exemplary one to many people as well as inspire them.” She told Martha Joyce.
Portia further stated that, although her focus is not on awards, she will not hesitate to receive any from Ghanaians.
“If today people recognize my impact and decide to reward me, I’ll take it but if they don’t, I’ll still do my work.” She expressed
