The Regional Minister of Bono Region, Justina Awo Banahene well known as Awo Banahene has urged Ghanaians to desist from all forms of activities that destroy water bodies in the country.
Speaking at the Ahafo Regional Lunch of the Water Quality Monitoring Assurance Program at Goaso in the Ahafo Region she stated, there are series of unhygienic practices that pollute water bodies and make it unsafe for human consumption.
She mentioned deification at river banks, throwing rubbish and urinating into streams, the use of harmful chemicals for fishing and farming among other things that need to stop.
“Government can not do all and that we should do our part to protect all water bodies for our children and future generations to follow”, she said.
The Saamahene of Kanyasi No. 1 Traditional Council, Nana Anim Darkwa who represented the Paramount Chief, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri in an interview with the media said the project will help to improve the accessibility of portable water in the Ahafo Region.
The project funded by PPP is being sponsored and supervised by Aquaya of KNUST, Ghana Water Company, UNSAID and Municipal and District Assemblies.
Beneficial Districts are Asutifi South, Tano North, Tano South and Asunafo North, Asutifi North is already benefiting.
