In a bid to promote peace and stability ahead of the December 7 general elections, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, has engaged with the Christian community in Accra.
The election security task force, led by Dr. Dampare, visited several churches on Sunday, November 24, 2024, including the Church of Pentecost, Dr. Wyatt Worship Centre, Resurrection Methodist Chapel, Holy Spirit cathedral, Assemblies of God church, Presbyterian church of Ghana, Osu and Ghana Police Church, 37 Accra.
During the visits, Dr. Dampare encouraged the congregations not to allow themselves to be used as tools for violence. He emphasized the importance of protecting the peace and stability that Ghana enjoys, adding that no one should take the law into their own hands.
The IGP also urged the Christian community to continue praying for the elections security task force, ensuring they discharge their duties effectively before, during, and after the elections. He stressed the need for patriotic citizenship, rallying behind the national flag after the elections.
Dr. Dampare’s engagement with the Christian community is part of the Ghana Police Service’s efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure electoral process. With the December 7 elections fast approaching, the IGP’s message of peace and stability is timely and crucial.
