Davido exposes alleged fake DMs after cheating claims
Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has rejected viral claims that he engaged in flirtatious Instagram conversations with a South African woman identified as Lethabo, describing the screenshots circulating online as fabricated.
The controversy surfaced shortly after Davido’s marriage to Nigerian chef and entrepreneur Chioma Avril Rowland, with alleged screenshots purportedly showing private exchanges between the singer and Lethabo gaining traction on social media.
Davido has now responded directly to the claims, attempting to discredit the screenshots by comparing them with what he says is the authentic Instagram messaging interface.
“Its adults really believing that the screenshots are real. This is how the messages pane should look like. Check the differences. That’s just a teenager fishing for attention online, and y’all falling for it,” he posted alongside a screenshot.
The “Unavailable” hitmaker appeared to suggest that the alleged conversation had been deliberately manipulated to create the impression that he was privately communicating with the woman.
His response has added another twist to the online controversy, with social media users now debating the authenticity of the screenshots and the circumstances surrounding the allegations.
Davido, who recently celebrated his marriage to Chioma, has maintained that the circulating material should not be treated as genuine evidence of an inappropriate relationship.
The singer’s attempt to provide what he considers proof of the screenshots’ inconsistencies is likely to keep the controversy alive, particularly as social media users continue to scrutinise the alleged messages.
