Nii Kojo Danso II, Divisional Chief of Dansoman, has petitioned the Accra High Court to remove Nii Ayi Okufourbour’s name from the National Register of Chiefs as a sub-chief of Lafa.

In a summons, No. GT/0089/2023, the Plaintiff Nii Kojo Danso II (Divisional Chief) vs. Nii Okufourbour I (Sub-chief of Lafa) 1st Defendant, the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council 2nd Defendant, Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs 3rd Defendant, and National House of Chiefs 4th Defendant, alleges that the first defendant allegedly enstooled himself the Chief of Lafa.

According to the plaintiff, the accused, Nii Okufourbour indicated his year of enstoolment as September 19th, 2008, but his deceptive installation was completed in September 2019.

He asserts that Nii Okufourbour was installed as a sub-chief of Lafa in the Greater Accra Region in September 2019, but facts prove there’s no such town or village by that name within the territory of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area or anywhere in Ghana.

He claims that on the date of his enstoolment, the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, the National House of Chiefs, and the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council depended on the aforementioned unfounded statement by moving ahead to have Nii Okufourbour’s registered as chief of Lafa.

Nii Okufourbour’s conduct of giving inaccurate information for the purpose of being registered in the national register of chiefs, according to the Dansoman Chief, is a premeditated scheme to illicitly misconstrue information about him to the general public at large, because he knew such information was completely untrue.

The Dansoman chief claims that the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council acted recklessly by failing to vet and fully confirm Nii Okufourbour’s declaration forms before forwarding them to the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs for proclamation.

As a result, he (Dnasoman Chief) is asking for a declaration from the Accra High Court that Nii Ayi Okufourbour’s action in the entire registration process amounts to ‘fraudulent misrepresentation,’ and thus the whole registration should be invalidated.

He asked the court once more to declare that the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council, Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, and the National House of Chiefs acted unreasonably in approving Nii Okufourbour’s request and advancing to register him in the national register of chiefs.

Plaintiff requests that the name of Nii Okufourbour be deleted from the National Register of Chiefs by the High Court.
