The Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah has called for the condemnation of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition classification in the ruling NPP party
According to the former legislator, the mantra brings division and disunity into the party and needs to be condemned.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Show in reaction to Hopeson Adoye‘s Danquah -Busia -Dombo tradition, he stated that, it is not right for people to do such classification in the party because it is not healthy for the party and the other regions which do not belong to any of the classifications.
He added that the NPP has members and a support base across the 16 regions of the country so when there is a classification that favours only three regions as being championed, the future of the other regions will be discouraged.
“When this classification is tolerated, where are the Voltarians, the Fantes, Ashantis, Western and the others who do not fall under the three classifications and also trace their lineage?” He questioned
The Danquah -Busia -Dombo tradition dates as far back in 1947 when Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia from Bono, Dr JB Danquah from the Eastern and Simon Diedong Dombo from the Upper West regions are mentioned as the backbone of the NPP. The tradition seriously comes to play whenever there is an election of a Flagbearer for the party.
