Twenty-two-year-old Seth Lamptey, a Form Two student of Nsawam Senior High School, together with Nananom and residents of Dankyira, are demanding compensation and justice after the student was allegedly shot during a demolition exercise at Domeabra-Dankyira in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The incident reportedly occurred when a company identified as FK Asare, accompanied by landguards and police officers, stormed the community to demolish properties.

Speaking at a press conference, Seth Lamptey narrated that he had gone to visit his mother and was returning home when he encountered clashes between some youth and the police during the demolition exercise.

According to him, while attempting to bypass the confrontation, a stray bullet allegedly fired from the direction of the police struck him in the abdomen and exited through his back.

The victim said the incident has disrupted his education and affected his health, as he remains at home recovering while his colleagues continue their studies in school.

He further disclosed that his family had to take a loan to cater for his medical bills at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.

Meanwhile, the Ebusuapanyin of Dankyira, Nii Kommey, has alleged that FK Asare does not own any land in Dankyira, Domeabra, and the surrounding communities, contrary to claims being made by the company.

He called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the government to intervene, alleging that the company is using fake court documents and invoking the name of the IGP to intimidate residents and create tension in the area.

Residents of Dankyira have also protested against the activities of FK Asare in the area and warned the company to stay away from their lands, insisting that they are prepared to resist any further demolition attempts.
