The family of the late Ghanaian Highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has announced a new date for his final funeral rites.
It will be recalled that the family had earlier scheduled December 6, 2025, for the funeral ceremony. However, disagreements soon erupted between the family head, Kofi Owusu, and the musician’s elder sister, Ernestina Fosu. The dispute prompted their summons before the Saamanhene of the Asantehene’s Traditional Council after Ernestina invoked Otumfuo’s Ntam Kese against the family head.
Ernestina accused Kofi Owusu of making key decisions about the funeral without her involvement and excluding her from the planning process. She subsequently petitioned the traditional authorities to set a new date, dissolve the existing funeral committee, and officially recognize Akosua Serwaa, the musician’s first wife, as the sole legitimate widow.
Following their appearance before the Otumfuo Traditional Council on November 10, 2025, the council has now approved December 13, 2025, as the new date for the final funeral rites of Daddy Lumba.
Additionally, the traditional authorities ordered the dissolution of the initial funeral committee and instructed Ernestina Fosu to investigate the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death.
The council further clarified that it could not rule on the issue of widowhood rites, as the musician’s wives are currently engaged in a court case over who should be recognized as the legitimate widow, urging both parties to await the court’s decision.
