Daddy Lumba’s children promise historic one-year memorial event

The children of late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, have revealed plans to honour their father and preserve his legacy ahead of the first anniversary of his burial.

Calvin Fosu, the first son of the late musician, disclosed in an interview that all of Daddy Lumba’s children have united with a common goal of organising activities to mark their father’s one-year memorial anniversary.

According to him, the family intends to put measures in place to ensure that their father is remembered positively while preserving his legacy for generations to come. He stated that the children are committed to protecting and promoting the remarkable legacy the highlife legend left behind through his music and immense contribution to Ghana’s entertainment industry.

“We would like to make sure that the legacy continues for the next ten, hundred, and even thousand years to come. I think this is the most important thing for us right now. For now, we definitely want to make sure that he is remembered the right way after the one-year anniversary. This time, we as his children also want to move forward and do this together, as united as possible, to make sure that this first anniversary celebration becomes a memorable one for everyone to remember him the right way,” he said.

Calvin’s comments have generated positive reactions from the public, with some praising him for stepping up as the eldest son, while others view the decision as a move that could reunite the family and ease divisions that reportedly emerged after Daddy Lumba’s death.

Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu passed away at the age of 60 on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital after battling an illness.

The mourning period following his death later developed into prolonged public and legal discussions surrounding the circumstances of his death, burial arrangements, marriage, children, and properties.

The late highlife icon remains one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians, with a catalogue of timeless songs that continue to inspire generations of music lovers.
