The Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG), Samson Asaki Awingobit, has said the current dollar exchange rate of GH¢13 at the ports has significantly reduced financial pressure on importers and exporters.
Speaking at a press briefing, Mr Awingobit noted that the stable rate has contributed to a noticeable drop in prices on the Ghanaian market, offering relief to both traders and consumers.
He urged members of the association to strictly adhere to the prevailing exchange rate and refrain from exploiting Ghanaians, particularly during the festive season when demand is high.
Mr Awingobit also praised the Mahama-led government for abolishing the E-Levy and the COVID-19 levy, describing the move as timely and beneficial to the trading community. According to him, the removal of the levies has improved profit margins for importers and exporters and enhanced overall business confidence.
