The Deputy Majority Leader, Mrs Patricia Appiagyei, has attributed the delay in implementing development projects in the Ashanti region to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Speaking in an interview with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the Asokwa MP explained that the global economic disruption caused by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine has resulted in a shortage of resources, including funding needed to execute the projects.
“Many people have not seen what the NPP has done in the Ashanti region because of the lies they have been fed with. The COVID-19 pandemic and conflict in Ukraine have led to a surge in global prices of goods and services, making it challenging for us to implement our projects within the allocated budget,” Appiagyei stated.
She assured the people of the Ashanti region that the government is working tirelessly to mitigate the effects of these global challenges and ensure that the projects are completed as soon as possible.
“We understand the frustration and disappointment that the delay has caused, and we want to assure the people of the Ashanti region that we are doing everything in our power to get the projects back on track,” Mrs Appiagyei added.
The legislator listed some of the affected projects, including the construction of new roads, schools, and healthcare facilities.
She appealed to the people of the Ashanti region to remain patient and vote for the NPP in the upcoming 2024 election for them to continue their good work for the region.
