The head of Regulatory Affairs at Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Justice Annan has alleged that former FDA CEO Dr. Stephen Opuni’s actions against the company were a deliberate attempt to run it down.
In an exclusive interview with Oyerepa News Reporter Bernard K Dadzie, Annan stated that Dr. Opuni’s accusations of importing fake drugs had a devastating impact on the company, prompting them to seek legal redress.
According to Justice Annan, Dr. Opuni’s allegations against Tobinco Pharmaceuticals were baseless and motivated by malice, resulting in significant damage to the company’s reputation and operations.
The Accra High Court has since exonerated Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited, ruling that the allegations were false. This will restore public confidence in Tobinco Pharmaceuticals.
Annan further revealed that there was no prior issue between Dr. Opuni and the company until the incident, and urged the public to continue trusting Tobinco Pharmaceuticals.
The controversy began in 2013 when Dr. Opuni reported Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited and its CEO, Samuel Amo Tobbin, to EOCO, leading to Tobbin’s arrest and the lockdown of the company’s warehouses.
The FDA also banned Bliss GVS Pharma Limited, Tobinco’s business partner, from importing drugs and confiscated stored drugs from customers.
Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited sued the FDA in 2019 for abuse of power and sought damages. The court’s ruling has vindicated the company.
Head of Regulatory affairs, Justice Annan expressed his profound gratitude to the court for the verdict and appealed to Ghanaians to continue trusting Tobinco Pharmaceuticals.
