Court restores Abronye DC’s bail after compliance with Passport surrender order
An Accra Circuit Court has restored the bail conditions of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after he complied with a court directive to surrender his passport.
The decision comes days after the court remanded Abronye in police custody for failing to meet one of the conditions attached to his bail in an ongoing criminal case.
On June 4, 2026, the court ordered his remand after he failed to hand over his passport as required under the terms of his bail.
During proceedings on Monday, June 8, counsel for the accused, Daniel Martey Addo, informed the court that all the bail conditions had now been fulfilled.
The court registrar subsequently confirmed that the passports had been deposited on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026.
Following the confirmation, the court restored Abronye DC’s bail but warned that any future breach of the conditions would lead to its immediate revocation.
Abronye DC is currently facing a charge of false publication brought by the State.
The High Court granted him bail last month after he was remanded following his arraignment, with the surrender of his passport forming part of the conditions attached to the bail.
The case has been adjourned as legal proceedings continue.
