The lawyer for embattled Ghanaian socialite Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, says his client has been granted bail by the High Court.
In a social media post on April 21, 2026, Barker-Vormawor wrote: “The High Court has just granted bail to Abu Trica. Shalom.”
Details of the bail conditions have not yet been made public. The ruling is expected to grant Abu Trica temporary freedom as legal proceedings continue, including matters linked to his possible extradition to the United States.
Abu Trica is reportedly facing charges connected to a large-scale online romance scam estimated at over US$8 million.
Barker-Vormawor has also previously alleged that his client was set up by an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In earlier social media comments dated March 28, 2026, he claimed the FBI officer approached Abu Trica under the guise of a financial transaction, allegedly requesting assistance to move US$50,000 into an account.
He described the encounter as part of what he believes was a deceptive operation targeting his client.
The case remains ongoing, with further details on the bail conditions and extradition process yet to be disclosed.
