Police in Kokrobite, Ga South Municipality, Greater Accra Region, have arrested a couple for allegedly beating their 13-year-old stepdaughter to death after accusing her of eating her younger brother’s food.

The victim, identified as Baby, was reportedly assaulted by her father, Issah Mohammed, and her stepmother, Yaa Grace, while Issah was away at work. Sources indicate that Issah had previously divorced Baby’s biological mother following repeated incidents of abuse and was now living with his new partner, who has also been implicated in the case.

According to neighbours, a video circulating on X on November 20, 2025, shows Issah allegedly beating the child severely, causing critical internal injuries. The couple is also accused of confining Baby in a separate room without food or water, where she reportedly died the following day.

Suspicious neighbours alerted the police, leading to the arrest of both suspects.

A relative of Baby’s biological mother, Justina Acquah, expressed outrage over the incident, alleging that Issah had a long history of abusive behaviour and calling for justice for the deceased.

The Kokrobite District Police Command has launched investigations, and the body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy.
