The Former Second Lady of Samira Bawumia, has called on members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) to uphold the values of humility, respect, and intellectual engagement campaigns.
Speaking during a meeting with executives of TESCON from the Ashanti Region at her office in Accra, Mrs. Bawumia stressed the importance of focusing on policy-driven campaigning and avoiding the politics of insults and personal attacks.
If we’re going into elections, focus on what you can offer. Share your vision and your ideas — that’s what political contests should be about. It should be an exchange of ideas, not personal attacks and denigration of opponents,” she stated.
Using her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as an example, Samira Bawumia stressed that respectful dialogue and issue-based engagement are vital for the continued growth and maturity of Ghana’s democracy.
“Dr. Bawumia and I believe in showing respect to everyone and choosing humility as the path forward,” she said.
“I encourage all of you to emulate Dr. Bawumia’s humility. Let his sense of purpose, his humility, his character of purpose and his composure guide you.”
