Ghanaian gospel musician and television personality Empress Gifty has offered her perspective on what she believes couples need to build a strong and lasting marriage, placing communication ahead of sexual intimacy.

In a video shared on Instagram, the gospel singer, whose full name is Gifty Adorye, acknowledged the importance of sex in marriage but argued that physical intimacy alone cannot guarantee a successful relationship.

According to Empress Gifty, couples who communicate well are better positioned to maintain a healthy bond, while sex mainly deepens the connection that already exists between them.

“Marriage is all about communication. Sex is also part, but sex isn’t a hundred percent… Sex bonds couples together, especially when there’s no issue between the couple. Even how you speak with each other in the morning is totally different,” she said.

Her comments have sparked conversations online, with social media users weighing in on the respective roles of communication, intimacy and emotional connection in sustaining marriages.

Empress Gifty’s remarks come amid ongoing public discussions about the challenges couples face in maintaining healthy relationships, particularly as expectations around intimacy and communication continue to generate debate.
