COKA pledges to reconnect neglected NPP members ahead of 2028

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Asanteman COKA, has pledged to reconnect with neglected party members as part of efforts to rebuild the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He said the NPP’s chances of returning to power would depend on its ability to heal internal divisions, strengthen discipline and reconnect with members at the polling-station level.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service on Sunday, September 7, COKA said the party’s recent internal elections should mark the beginning of a new phase of unity and reconciliation.

He said he and his elected and appointed executives had forgiven members who made comments against them during the campaign, urging party supporters to similarly put past disagreements behind them.

According to him, the NPP cannot successfully reorganise for the 2028 elections if internal conflicts continue to weaken its structures.

COKA said particular attention would be given to delegates and Members of Parliament in the Ashanti Region, stressing that unity at these levels would be critical to rebuilding the party’s electoral strength.

He maintained that the Ashanti Region must unite if the NPP is to secure victory for its 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“If Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will win the 2028 general elections, then the party in the Ashanti Region has to unite,” he said.

The Regional Chairman called on party members to support the regional executives as they work to bring the various factions together and strengthen cooperation within the party.

He also identified discipline as a key pillar of the NPP’s reorganisation, warning against conduct that could further deepen divisions within the party.

COKA pledged to reach out to members who, he said, had been neglected since 1992, particularly those at the polling-station level, and integrate them into the party’s activities.

He said the regional leadership would also insist on adherence to the NPP’s constitution as part of efforts to restore order and cohesion within its ranks.

COKA said the objective was to build a stronger grassroots base capable of mobilising effectively for the 2028 elections and supporting Dr Bawumia’s bid to lead the NPP back into government.
