The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a bold step toward revitalising its internal structures and reconnecting with its grassroots base at the 2025 NPP Constituency Chairmen Caucus Conference.
Held at the Longford Royal Centre in Kumasi from June 20 to 22, the event brought together over 275 constituency chairmen, party executives, and key stakeholders.
The conference, themed “Building Momentum: The Role of NPP Constituency Chairmen in Uplifting the Party Towards 2028 and Beyond,” focused on strengthening party unity, enhancing internal structures, and strategising for the 2028 general elections.
Delivering a rousing keynote address, Mr Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA) issued a passionate call for unity, discipline, and reform.
His message resonated deeply with party members as he addressed lingering internal challenges and the need to rebuild public trust after the 2024 elections.
COKA emphasised the urgent need to overcome internal divisions and prioritise collective goals over personal agendas. He called on party leaders to rise above religious, tribal, and economic differences in pursuit of a unified and stronger NPP.
Quoting Psalm 133:1 — “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” — COKA reminded attendees that success in 2028 would require forgiveness, cooperation, and a renewed commitment to ethical leadership.
In a significant policy proposal, COKA advocated for reforms to the party’s qualification structure, suggesting that only individuals with prior service at the polling station or constituency level should be eligible for higher leadership roles, including regional and national positions. This, he noted, would promote loyalty, experience, and merit within the party hierarchy.
Throughout his speech, COKA drew inspiration from global figures such as Eleanor Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr., as well as traditional African proverbs, to underscore themes of unity, shared responsibility, and inclusive leadership. He also encouraged party executives to actively participate in decision-making, uphold transparency, and embrace diverse perspectives within the framework of respectful democratic dialogue.
