The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Transparent Elections (COCTE) has strongly urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to uphold the highest standards of transparency and engage all stakeholders constructively in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections.
COCTE has emphasized that denying observer accreditation undermines inclusivity and accountability, which are essential components of a fair and democratic electoral process.
In addition, the coalition has appealed to all political parties to conduct their campaigns responsibly, refrain from using inflammatory language, and adhere to the rule of law. COCTE also encourages citizens to exercise their right to vote, actively participate in upholding electoral integrity, and remain informed, vigilant, and peaceful throughout the electoral period.
Furthermore, COCTE has called upon the media to report accurately and responsibly, avoid sensationalism, and promote fact-based journalism to combat the spread of misinformation.
COCTE reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advancing democracy, fostering peace, and safeguarding the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process. The coalition firmly believes that by working together, they can ensure that the December 7, 2024, elections truly reflect the will of the Ghanaian people and strengthen the nation’s democratic legacy.
