The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike set to take effect on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
The industrial action aims to pressure the government into removing the Acting Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, Samuel Adom Botchway.
Following an initial strike threat on February 13, the government assured that Mr. Botchway would be reassigned. However, CLOGSAG contends that his participation in a budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, indicates he remains in his position—contrary to government commitments.
A statement signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo reaffirmed that the strike will proceed as planned unless their demands are met.
CLOGSAG has called on all its members to prepare for the industrial action.
