A woman from Tipokrom, near Asumura in the Goaso Municipal of the Ahafo Region, Rebbeca Kumi, aka Mother, has publicly shared a disturbing account of alleged sexual harassment and threats involving a Church of Pentecost elder.

Speaking on Oyerepa Afutuo with host Auntie Naa, the woman, Akua Mother, alleged that a Church of Pentecost elder known as Elder Bright Kusi has been tormenting her for years despite both of them being married to different partners.

According to her, she previously dated Elder Bright Kusi, but the relationship ended. She said they both moved on, got married, and started separate families.

However, she claims the elder has since refused to leave her alone and has repeatedly pressured her for sexual relations.

Mother alleged that on several occasions, Elder Kusi went as far as visiting her matrimonial home to sleep with her.

She narrated a recent incident that occurred about three months ago, when she was three months pregnant with her husband, Effoh.

“About three months ago, I was at home and pregnant at the time. My husband had gone to work. I was asleep when Elder Kusi entered my room without my knowledge and started seducing me to have sex with me. Fortunately, a neighbour came to my rescue,” she recounted.

She stated that she strongly resisted his advances during that incident and raised an alarm, which attracted help from a nearby neighbour.

Following the incident, Mother said she reported the matter to the Goaso Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, hoping church leadership would intervene and call the elder to order.

She further disclosed that she also lodged a complaint with the police, but alleged that no action was taken.

The complainant added that the situation has harmed her marriage and family life. She claimed her husband has since withdrawn support from her and her only son, whose biological father died years ago, following the controversy surrounding the alleged actions of the church elder.

More troubling, Mother alleged that Elder Kusi has now begun threatening her life, claiming she has disgraced him by speaking out.

“Elder Kusi is now threatening to kill me. He says I have disgraced him,” she told Auntie Naa.

Responding to the claims on phone, Elder Kusi  stated that,

“Indeed, we once dated. However, one day I was at home when she called me over, saying she wanted to have a conversation with me. When I entered her room, she suddenly locked the door and raised an alarm, claiming I was about to sleep with her.

She also accused me of stealing an amount of GH¢8,500 from her. As a result, I reported the matter to the police for her to be arrested.”

The Church of Pentecost has not yet released an official statement on the matter.
