The deputy national communications director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr George Krobea Asante has urged the members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to allow the flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to choose whoever he wants to partner with for the 2024 presidential election.
He stated in categorically that no one should put pressure on the vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia despite numerous names popping up to be considered for the running mate position
Speaking on UTV, November 21, 2023, he pointed out that “No one should put pressure on him. We should allow Dr Bawumia do that for himself. The national deputy communications director, George Krobea Asante”.
This follows intense competition among some New Patriotic Party Members over who partners with the newly elected flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Names that have emerged so far include, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh; the Minister for Energy, Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei -Owusu, Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Mr. John Kuma, the deputy minister of Finance and others.
According to Mr Krobea Asante, all the names popping up shows that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have a men, and this are the people who have tried and texted in their own capacity either in private or public life.
Mr George Krobea Asante believed that whoever Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is going to select as his running mate will be able to compliment his efforts to win the 2024 general election.
For his perspective, Dr Bawumia will consult all the relevant stakeholders especially former president John A. Kuffour and H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo–Addo the president of the Republic of Ghana.
