The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, has emphasized the need for Africa to have patient, development-oriented capital that understands the realities of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD) 2026, he stressed that capital must meet credible businesses, and these businesses must be equipped to absorb investment and scale regionally.
“Africa must build trade capability at scale. Export readiness, standards of compliance, digital trade literacy, and logistic efficiency are no longer optional, they are a must,” he said.
Chief of staff added that integration must be made visible and tangible, citing the success of women-led enterprises and youth-led startups that trade across borders.
“Africa Market Borderless Now, Make Africa Borderless Now” campaign, describing it as a demand for economic transformation. A borderless Africa is not about erasing sovereignty, it is about unlocking opportunities,” he said.
Debrah emphasized the importance of implementation, stating that policies matter only when institutions deliver. “Our collective task, therefore, is to turn commitment into action at the borders and at the borders of Africa,” he said.
